About the role

Postdoctoral Prize Research Fellowships in Sociology at Nuffield College for early-career researchers within three years of PhD completion. Fellows conduct advanced independent scholarly research in sociology broadly construed, disseminate findings through publications and conference participation, and contribute to College intellectual life through seminars and workshops. Optional paid teaching and supervision available up to 48 hours per year. Full-time fixed-term positions for three years from September 2027.

What you’ll do

  • Engage in advanced study and independent scholarly research in sociology broadly construed
  • Disseminate research findings through publication and participation in conferences and seminars
  • Take part in the intellectual life of the College by organising seminars, workshops, or conferences
  • Undertake ad hoc paid teaching or supervision within the collegiate University in Oxford, up to a maximum of 48 hours per year

What they’re looking for

Candidates must hold or be close to completion of a PhD/DPhil in a relevant field. Must be within three years of doctorate defence date at application. Preference given to candidates with less than one year prior similar research fellowship experience. Require independent research experience, track record of excellent publications in peer-reviewed journals commensurate with career level, and willingness to contribute to College intellectual life with excellent communication skills.
